Avoid Being Tagged and Towed
You need to know the facts about street parking in West St. Paul during the snow season, to avoid being tagged or towed! Plow crews need your cooperation to give you good service. Snow parking regulations are triggered by a snowfall of 2 1/2 inches or more, measured by the weather bureau, or by a snow emergency declaration by the City Engineer or Police Chief.
No Parking after 8:00 a.m. until street is fully plowed, or until 8:00 p.m., whichever comes first. “Snowbirds” are tagged and towed if not moved.

The West St. Paul City Code provides as follows:
Section 810.07. Snow on Sidewalks
1) Requires property owners or occupants to remove snow and ice from adjacent public sidewalks within twelve hours after it falls or accumulates.
2) Gives the City the authority to remove the snow and ice at the expense of the owner, the cost to be levied as a special assessment against the property.
3) States “It is unlawful for any person to deposit or cause to be deposited snow from private property or public right-of-way onto a public street.” Violation is a misdemeanor and carries a fine of up to $1000.00.

| Do know and understand the City’s parking regulations and act accordingly. | Don’t park your car on City streets after a 2″ snowfall until streets have been plowed curb to curb. There is no parking in the alley. |
| Do keep up on the weather forecast and be prepared for conditions. Drive carefully, streets may be slippery. | Don’t park in an unplowed area on a street that has already been plowed once. |
| Do stay clear of snow plows and sanding trucks. | Don’t shovel or blow snow out into the street or alley. |
| Do call the City Municipal Service Center with questions about plowing routes or schedules at (651)554-3225. | Don’t place garbage cans in the street or alley for pick-up. They belong in your driveway. They will get hit by the snowplow! |
